Training Methods - Thought Field Therapy™

#
What is it?

Thought Field Therapy™ (TFT) is a safe and effective technique for the elimination of emotional distress. Fast Focusing Center uses TFT for near-immediate relief of addictions, phobias, fears and anxieties by directly treating the blockage in the energy flow created by a disturbing thought pattern. It virtually eliminates any negative feeling previously associated with a thought.

TFT eliminates disturbances created by negative emotions using key meridian points in specific sequences. It is the latest and most effective technology for removing disruptions in the body's energy system. These disruptions are responsible for causing physical problems, negative emotions, addictions and cravings.

It is truly a mind-body training using a combination of modern science, Oriental medicine, and the body's energy system.

Mind Body Connection

TFT was discovered in 1981 by Dr. Roger Callahan, a cognitive psychologist in Hollywood, CA who worked with celebrities. Dr. Callahan had tried everything in his repertoire to help a woman with a lifelong, severe and apparently intractable water phobia.

He decided to try a variation on a holistic, mind-body healing method he had been studying, based on the theory in Chinese medicine that energy flows along meridian lines in the body. These meridian points appear to act as a governing force in healing and growth. When the energy points are blocked or unbalanced, the person experiences emotional disturbance or what Dr. Roger Callahan calls "perturbations."

He discovered that by directly treating the blockage in the energy flow created by a disturbing thought pattern, the disturbance or upset disappears. It virtually eliminates any negative feeling previously associated with a thought.

Callahan continued to expand on his discovery and has come up with a number of brief treatments or "algorithms." Algorithms are step-by-step procedures or sequences of body taps geared to particular conditions which clients can perform on themselves.

How It Works

A Fast Focusing Center therapist asks his/her client to think about a situation or event and describe how s/he are feeling.

At the direction of the therapist, the client taps with two fingers on various accupressure points on the body. The tapping is done according to a prescribed recipe pattern (algorithm). The algorithm is based on the particular emotions elicited by the upset.

After the series of tapping, which may take only a few minutes, the training is complete and the distress is eliminated.

Each client is different and each issue requires a personalized approach. Fast Focusing Center therapists are trained in many techniques and have the unique ability to combine these techniques – as they often do -- to achieve the most rapid and most permanent results for a client. TFT, while very effective on its own, is typically one component of a larger, holistic training plan that is tailored to each individual.
